SPREAD THE WORD! TALK TO CINDY!

SPREAD THE WORD!
GEORGE BUSH, TALK TO CINDY!

George Bush is on vacation.

Cindy Sheehan is on his case.

Cindy is the mother of Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, KIA at Sadr City on April 4, 2004, and a co-founder of Gold Star Families for Peace. Cindy is at the gates of Bush’s ranch in Crawford Texas to demand that he explain to her –face to face– why Casey had to die. Bush is refusing to come out. Cindy says she’s staying until Bush talks to her or leaves Texas (see Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, UK Guardian and The Lone Star Iconoclast, Bush’s “home-town paper”).

We can help Cindy Sheehan turn the heat up on Bush.

1-Email the White House. Send a simple three-word message, “Talk to Cindy!”

2-Call the White House comment line (202) 456-1111, and/or send a postcard to George Bush, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20500 with the same three words.

3-Spread the word! Send this appeal to your friends, to email lists, to blogs. Post it on websites. Let’s swamp the White House with our simple three word demand: TALK TO CINDY!

I wonder if Bush even knows she’s there! Betcha his keepers have hidden the news from him.

  2. Steve:

Now here is a Woman-American with BACKBONE.

Since the defining moment of the Bush presidency, the preposterous flight-suit, Fox News-produced photo-op on the USS Abraham Lincoln in front of the banner that read “Mission Accomplished,” the truth is that everything has gone wrong. Just as it was bound to go wrong, as many predicted it would go wrong — if anything, more hopelessly wrong than any of us would have dared to prophesy. Iraq is an epic trainwreck, and there’s not a single American citizen who’s going to walk away unscathed.

    Cindy Sheehan to be arrested?

From a blog entry at Antiwar.com, referencing a post at Daily Kos…

“Cindy Sheehan…has been informed that she and her group will be arrested Thursday as a “threat to national security” for protesting the war on a road near Bush’s “ranch” in Crawford, Texas. Cindy says that she and others plan to be arrested.”

  5. Christyne:

Bush knows she’s there. The local authorities have informed her that as of Thursday 8/11 she and anyone standing with her will be considered a national security risk and will be arrested. As many people as possible should arrive at the Camp Casey outside Bush’s place on Wednesday evening and plan to spend the night. If she’s arrested, we want to have a strong contingent of support for her.

  6. jay taber:

See how you can help her and Gold Star Families for Peace on their website http://www.gsfp.org

I say the time is ripe to mass in Crawford. Perhaps this is the time to tilt this baby off it’s axis. If a million people stood on the road to Bush’s summer hideout demanding his removal from office, with his fully complicit criminal cabinet, the world would notice. Then, the world would start respecting Americans again for standing up to this criminal enterprise that has hijacked our country. I hear this common thought… if this happened in our country we’d be marching in the streets until they were removed from office.

I suppose I used to believe that Americans would never allow this level of blatant criminality to take over the White House and the United States Military and use it for thier own self-enriching enterprise. I was clearly wrong. Have we had enough death and destruction from the boy king?

  8. Stan:

The Stan above is a different Stan from the moderator, who is me. Just for the record.

  9. jay taber:

According to the Lonestar Iconoclast online news, Louisiana Veterans for Peace is on their way with 1,000 white crosses to plant along the road to Crawford. This could, finally, be the road to truth.

  10. peggy:

It looks like the mainstream media is sidelining this story. I guess we should not be surprised. What is wrong with the American people? Maybe it is a combination of cowardice, fear, and apathy. From the outside (I am a US citizen but currently live in a faraway country) it looks so horrendous. My friends and relatives in the States – liberals all – view activists with amused condescension at best. How do I get through to my own friends and relatives? Any suggestions?

  11. mark gibson:

If Bush, Rumsfeld and Congress spent what they obligate for DOD pork projects, Rumsfeld’s national security personnel system, and other assorted “do nothing projects” – our sons and daughters would have armor to protect them.

My mother use to tell me – a man can claim to not be afraid – but a man not afraid of a mother is a fool.

  12. jay taber:

We don’t live to be recognized by corporate media, nor to work as corporate wage slaves, nor to participate as corporate citizens. Those of us who live in poverty know why. Convincing those who collaborate in stolen property, land, and wealth is pointless.

  13. Doug Nielson:

After Cindy talks to Bush we need to send in an entire delegation. I’m hereby placing my vote for Stan Goff as my representative on the delegation

  14. Stan:

    That’s funny, Doug. (-:

I can ask him if that is a snake and gopher ranch. No one has seen any cows, though there appears no shortage of bullshit.

  15. Tom in Sydney:

    Maybe it’s a mushroom “ranch”…

Does that mean you disagree with the thought?
    Just for the record.

  17. Dick Reilly:

Bush will be in Aurora, Illinois on Wednesday morning 8/10 to sign a transportation bill. We have been told that the signing will take place at the Caterpillar Plant which is at the intersection of Route 30 and Orchard Road at the South edge of Aurora. Cindy Sheehan surrogate family member Sabrina Worsham, Gold Star Families for Peace, CODEPINK and other peace groups will be on hand to demand George Bush meet with Cindy Sheehan. 18. Stan:

    On the Stan-Stan question… just a distinction.

  19. David:

I’m a first timer stumbling across your blog. Fierce. I just e-mailed the President telling him to Talk to Cindy. it’s interesting to see how this plays out in the media. I think that in some ways, the American public lacks the ability to think critically about such issues as our foreign policy, and NEEDS a simple figure like Cindy Sheehan to help them understand the importance of standing up and do the right thing. You go girl!!! I would love to see a million mom’s march on Crawford in support of ending this war. Hell, they should take their kids with them too, to show the President the faces of his war machines future cannon fodder….

  20. Bob Oehmen:

How many people are currently down with Cindy at Crawford? I’ve got to believe someone would be keeping tally. 50? 500? I may go there (from Chicago) next week.

  21. Tracy Fields:

I say we go and count when we get there. Planning to leave Miami on Sunday.

  22. Mary:

    Something to think about:
Women have a history of protest. We have protested for our very right to vote in the past. American women were imprisoned and tortured by President Wilson while protesting during the women’s suffrage movement. Why should it be an anomaly to protest for the lives of our sons? What is happening to this country that we cannot speak without it being censored or somehow pushed aside. This is not right wing or left wing logic. Humanistically….what is the plan for peace with regard to our children. This is the question that all mothers have on their brains. Mr. President…”What is your plan to bring them home and give us our sons and daughters alive…not in body bags?” Give Cindy her voice…do not repeat the mistake that former President Wilson made.

1917 Members of the National Woman’s Party picket the White House. Alice Paul and ninety-six other suffragists are arrested and jailed for “obstructing traffic.” When they go on a hunger strike to protest their arrest and treatment, they are force-fed.
Women win the right to vote in North Dakota, Ohio, Indiana, Rhode Island, Nebraska, Michigan, New York, and Arkansas.

this is all something to think about.

  23. dave:

Cindy Sheehan’s got a bigger pair than W! God Bless and keep her from harm. Get’s mighty hot down there under the Texas sun. Send $$ for shade and water! http://www.crawfordpeacehouse.org/index.html

  24. Solarcell:

Mary makes a good point and im wondering why fathers do not express the same outrage in a public manner?Cindy has created a firestorm and what if all or a 20 percentile of families went on similar high profile campaigns?
Would be minimized i know but it would be hard to fight back the momentum of alot of military families permanently protesting the war.
As civilians, the general populus is easily shot down. With the military,AT LEAST the right has to make the hypocritical move of condemning ex-warriors.
Hell i dont know,if something was oragnized,i would donate panels and other renewable tech to reduce cost for those protesting and make it a more comfortable stay..
Im tired of war,im tired of seenig HS friends die for resourses that are unnecessary, its time to bring our troops home,PERMANENTLY.

  25. david murray:

It seem as though everyone forgets that we are at war with an enemy who’s only purpose is to kill Americans. The same people who forget about the purpose of the war are the first to cry when things happen like 9/11. It is better to be killing terroists in Iraq than terroists killing Americans in America. All soldiers joined the military freely and are paid to do a job. The know their job is to protect Americans at any cost and they do the best job in the world. All Americans should be proud of the job the soldiers are doing. All Americans should be proud of President Bush for having the backbone to fight the cowards in their own land. For the United States pull out of Iraq without finishing the job would mean every soldiers’ death was in vain. God Bless all Soldiers past, present, and future. God Bless the United States, President Bush and Tony Blair for sticking with us.

  26. Stan:

David, there is not a single member of any terrorist organization who is primarily driven by the desire to kill Americans. Killing Anericans is seen as a way (which I disagree with when it is against civilians) to accomplish a political goal related to some aspect of American foreign plicy, like the US support for the Saudi regime and-or Israel.

The vast majority of those killed by US forcesin Iraq have been Iraqis who have never been terrorists, and are mostly civilians. The technically volunteer status of the soldiers in the US military has ZERO to do with whether the war is legtimate or moral. This is a pretty decayed old red herring.

If you send another post with the kind of generalized anti-Arab Anti-Muslim racism I see here, it will never see the light of day. I have been called intolerant about this. And it is true. I am very intolerant of it.

  27. Jennie Johnstone:

David, you need to read a book by a highly decorated general, back in the 30s, this book was written. It was true then, and it’s true now, only the corruption is much more blatent. We on the internet are word warriors because, most people don’t realize that the same people profitting off the war are the same bunch that have bought up the great majority of the media. War is the biggest money maker of all, so buying up media is a secondary step. Well, back to the book. It’s a brief book. It’s called “War is a Racket” Smedley Butler is the author. It takes some a while before you can fathom the level of despicable self servitude this gang is capable of, using the fine young soldiers. But, for the sake of humanity, consider it. Then, do whatever you can to pass on the knowledge.

  28. Consumer:

    Mr Murray,

You are obviously suffering from “GI Joe Syndrome”, a very serious disorder that renders the victim incapable of seeing past the red, white and blue fairy tales spun and maintained by the system. For a dose of reality, please refer to any of the numerous declassified reports (e.g., Downing Street memos) that clearly indicate that Bush sent US troops into harm’s way based on a web of lies.

You mention terrorists whose “only purpose is to kill Americans”. Laughable. Their oft-stated purposes involve, among others, resolution of the Palestinian issue and withdrawal of support for dictatorial puppet regimes in the region. The fact that the US is directly hindering the realization of those goals is what ultimately culminated in the tactical strike against Americans on 9/11. In other words, the US causing these problems makes the US the enemy. In this case, the chicken came before the nasty egg that is currently hatching and threatening to devour us all.

You mention that it “is better to be killing terroists in Iraq than terroists killing Americans in America”. This is a creepy reminder that racists such as yourself view brown people’s resistance as terrorism and US terrorism as liberation. Let’s see, how can we make this real easy even for you to understand…? Remember that Patrick Swayze movie, Red Dawn? A group of rag-tag all-American boys get guns and take to the hills to fight against the brutality of the invading Soviet super army? Think of at least 3/4ths of the insurgency as Iraqi Patrick Swayzes. I don’t have to tell you who’s playing the USSR in this little analogy, do I?

You also bring up the volunteer spirit of the US armed forces, and this is probably the only sane thing you mention in your post. Unfortunately, you gloss over the fact that most Americans that join the service sign up for the Department of DEFENSE, a word defined as a “means or method of defending or protecting oneself”. Clearly, pre-emptive strikes against non-threatening sovereign nations does not fit with the spirit or definition of the word. Simply put, they didn’t sign up for this shit.

Re: being proud of US soldiers and the job they are doing, well, the individual efforts of the troops themselves may be laudable in some cases, in others, not so laudable (read: murder of unarmed non-combatants, Abu Ghraib, etc.) Blind cheerleading of US troops and their actions takes the spotlight away from those who control them, like George “I Woulda Served My Country If I Hadn’t Been Too Busy With Drinking Binges” Bush.

You also mention the cowardice of the insurgents. Did you think it was cowardly when Swayze and pals instigated guerrila operations to blow up Russian tanks? Probably not. Take a good long look in the mirror. You’ll see an ignorant racist unable to consider concepts such as all standards need to apply equally to all parties. Plus, voluntarily dying in order to kill the enemy may be one of the many perversions spawned by armed conflict. Sick, sad, terrible, sure. But cowardly? Hm, seems to me that it takes a bit of courage to die for something you believe in.

Finally, you mention God a few times, and ask Him (quite presumptuously, in my opinion) to bless this and that. Let’s say there is a God, in the Judeo-Christian sense of the word, and that He is in fact in the business of blessing things. Are you really so twisted and racist to think that all He wants to bless is the agenda of a handful of rich white frat boys? If you think your answer to that question may be yes, then I hope you’ll forgive me for re-labelling your religion as a sham and your faith as insanity.

  29. Bob:

“David, there is not a single member of any terrorist organization who is primarily driven by the desire to kill Americans.”

Obviously, Stan, has a clairvoyant vision into the minds of what motivates every Muslim terrorist. Funny, I used to remember back in the day Stan talking about blowing away “rag-heads” and opining about how great and professional the Israeli Army was. This was obviously due to his Jewish tribal leanings, and now we are to believe that he is an anti-Zionist. I guess Master Sergeant Goff is the only one allowed to make racist remarks on this web site. He has insulted Latinos in the military by calling them “Honorary Aryans,” and is enmity for Europeans and European Americans is common denominator in all of his writings. I guess he feels the need to revive the kill Whitey movement for the New Black Panthers movement. Diversity in America hey Stan! Unless of course it is diversity of opinion.
