DA HACK
No, I’m not talking about a person this time. The blog was hacked by something called A1MS.

We are working on getting it back to normal, and even a bit prettier, and to construct a defense.
Thanks for your patience.

My page was attacked three days ago as well. I’ve since moved on to some new software called plog : http://www.plogworld.net/
7 September 2005, 12:09 pmI’m much happier with it than my old one (simplephpblog) and it has some built in security features that are obviously needed. I’ve learned a fair bit about web exploits and such over the past few years so if there’s anything I can offer in this area just let me know. I’ve always been so blown away by the whole idea behind defacing web pages for political reasons, and I feel so niave for holding on to the concept that a persons voice should never be silenced. I really hope it was a bored kid rather than someone really believing they have the right to try (however fruitlessly) to keep your work from the masses. I wouldn’t put it past the self-righteous to believe the exception to free speech is with folks they don’t agree with.
Freedom of speech, just watch what you say, right?
Much Respect,
Adam

Sorry about your “hack job” – want to thank you for great article de-bunking “exit strategies!” Also great on the in-fighting amongst the left. Am still unable to leave comments from my own computer, so using my wife’s again, thus late responding to the articles. Your analysis is so rigorous and your prose so persuasive, I would join the chorus urging you to get wider dispersal of your writings, especially on this issue, which seems to be ripe, as public opinion of W is at an all-time low. Have you any thoughts on a vehicle for that wider hearing?

I found that out when I tried to post my brilliant reply to the Butterfuly Effect…
Let me point out that numerous progressive sites are getting hacked these daze — especially, it seems, when they are most useful.
Caveat lectorae et webmasterae!

Glad you’re back up and running, and hope you find out who’s behind “DA HACK”
I’m sure you’ll hear enough pros and cons to turn your stomach, but I have to admit that I preferred the original site layout/colors/navigation.
But I’ll survive and enjoy the new site just the same.

Hey Mr. Goff,
New site design is great, though I do miss the green. Glad to see the site back up. Cheers.

Brian & Ruby have prevailed, and made this much more readable.
Thanks, y’all.

Hang in, Stan. You are one of the few who really seems to understand the big picture and can articulate what you see…one of the few with the credentials of having been there and done that. Smedley Butler would be proud of you.
Your last letter to the troops will be a classic in due time.
Your analysis of Katrina and the aftermath will be also.
Suggestion: Read some of Huey Long’s speeches and try to scale back some of your more complicated explanations into words that Joe Blow can understand.

I am happy you got it back up! I just discovered this
8 September 2005, 3:50 pmvery brilliant weblog. Excellent writing, great material!

Yay Stan!
Since it is common knowledge now that we are being overseen by those “looking for terrorist activity” the liklihood of interference from that point raises eyebrows. I must admit my internet protection is minimal, and I have noticed that each time I log onto the FERAL SCHOLAR each click takes forever from the onset to each screen frame thereafter. I only have dial up, but other sites don’t have any where near the delay in contrast . I have to confess my computer knowledge is pathetic, and it may be foolish of me to assume that the surviellance if it is happening here and to those coming here would cause our computers to be slow. Any one else have any insights ? I’m barely computer literate myself, having just gotten a computer 6 months ago, and an older one at that.
I do know though that according to the ACLU, surviellance going on a good deal of the time with the interest of political gain.
I hope there are some experiences that can be shared. I doubt I’m alone in assuming the government is abusing it’s power.

Also, I’ve noticed the ACLU web site is worse. What do ya know, the least GOP/government friendly sites. Am I turning conspiracy theory lunatic ? Well, they’ve proven they are capable of anything for capital and political gain.
