African America & Palestine

One of the most disfiguring effects of the knot that ties existing outposts of Black political power in the US to the putrescent Democratic Party is how it sets the anchor point for Black politics so far away from Palestine. So long as Black participation in politics in the US remains lashed to this decaying corpse, it cannot gain the independence necessary to scale the Apartheid wall that the DP has constructed between the occupation of African America and the occupation of Palestine. Yet this connection is vital to understanding and acting in the face of imperialism at home and abroad.

Libby-Cheney-Rove: What is to be done?

Many on the left — and by this I mean something more discriminating than a “left” inclusive of Hillary Clinton and Al Franken — are not sure what to make of the whole Plame-gate affair. We seem to be WRITING on it, but mostly for the purpose of showing simultaneously that (1) we knew the war was based on lies when the press was still giving the Bush regime the presumption of goodwill, that (2) normally we would consider outing CIA agents to be a very positive thing (this preserves our self-images as REAL leftists), and that (3) the Democrats — true to form — are hiding in the hedges hoping the administration will collapse without them having to suffer any dilemmas between restive massess and their capitalist funding streams.

Rosa Parks – Presente

The linked article inside presents one of many historical perspectives on the campaign that this fine woman helped catapult into a decisive struggle to break American Apartheid.

Rosa Parks, 1913-2005

Rest well, sister.

The People’s Hurricane Relief Fund & Oversight Coalition (PHRF) announces the opening of two Communication/Relief Centers!

Call for Volunteers: We need volunteers immediately, particularly people of color, to come down to New Orleans to help us set up the Communication/Relief Centers. The initial work will involve cleaning the spaces so they are available for the community and cleaning the surrounding neighborhoods. If you are available, please email us at volunteer@communitylaborunited.net.

Appeal to Stop an Execution

The Organization for Black Struggle, Affiliate of the Black Radical Congress, is making an urgent plea to all justice-seeking friends to stop the state murder of Marlin Gray. Gray has an execution date of Wednesday, October 26 at 12:01 am.

Filiberto Ojeda Rios – Presente

On Friday, September 23, scores of FBI agents surrounded a house in semi-rural Hormigueros, Puerto Rico. They attacked, and a sniper shot Filiberto Ojeda Rios, the Responsible General of Los Macheteros, a revolutionary organization fighting for the independence of Puerto Rico. Wounded, Filiberto was left to bleed to death before the Feds moved in the next day.

The little debate that didn’t…

Well, damn!

Sorry, but I just had the State Unversity of New York at Stoneybrook bail out on a debate scheduled for October 19th. I spent two days preparing for that debate.

Video-conference buffoonery

I’ve seen some weird shit in my day, and this definitely qualifies as weird.

White Pigs

Bad apples.

That’s what we always hear when cops kill unarmed Black folk or beat the living shit out of a Black person who doesn’t immediately accept their absolute authority. We always hear that these criminals with uniforms, guns, pepper spray, and a license to kill are bad apples.

Interview with a DC window dresser

“I’m looking at Gang activity in my stuff at school, but it is relevant to the question of power. The internet is a wonderful tool for understanding self representation. This weekend I did a close reading of one particular gang related incident, mapped it, and then went to the county, city, and local school websites for a look see. It was interesting, I found the statistics on the demographic makeup to be multi-ethnic, but representations are steeped in colonial history and images, rather than the multi-national. Projected trends in the county statistics show that the area will be almost majority minority by the next census, yet elected officials are mostly Anglo.”
