Particularly interesting was the internalization of racism by African-Americans &lt;i&gt;several decades&lt;/i&gt; after segregation, as shown by the &quot;Play it again, Sam&quot; scene. The audience desperately grasping at a humane representation of themselves via popular culture.

I hope Van Peebles follows up with a film on 1960s-present representation of Blacks on the big screen.</description>
