In a horrific display of racist solidarity, white media men have circled their wagons around Don Imus, the career broadcast bigot who called the Rutgers women’s basketball team a bunch of “nappy headed hos.” All is forgiven, because “Imus is us,” say his defensemen. And they are right: Imus is them, irredeemably racist children of white privilege who believe their casual slandering of other races and genders are of no more concern than getting drunk at a frat party. The most important element of the tale is not Imus’ putrid outbursts, but the reflexive defense of him by his co-racists, who have “outed” themselves in the process. FULL

Imus…I don’t know anything about this talk show host…I do know there’s enough hatred in america to go around for everyone a thousand times…authorities must like these kinds of diversions from their dirty tactics while ‘the people’ are at each others throats and idiots like Imus make big bucks stirring up the citizenry…It’s sick no matter how you cut it. Then apparently some feel there’s a lack of patriotism for no exhibiting love for the kind of society the Imus’s and war criminals help create…I can’t grasp that logic either…hatred, war, death for dollars..???

this is a shout out for people to check out this documentary (Racism: A History), it probably wont tell you anything that you don’t already know, but this should be seen as it is a concise overview of empire and racism.

I listened to a number of (White) sports radio dudes during the week. I was struck by how persistant they were in rationalizing and justifing Imus’s statements. I can’t say I was too surprised, I’ve come to learn lately of the depth of racism and sexism in the US. Stan’s writings (Among others) have had a lot to do with it this “awakening.” Just shows you how fucked up this country really is.
