The NY Times paid a backhanded tribute to the power of Kevin Tillman’s testimony by burying on page 18 today.
The ruling class won’t be able to stand too much more is this kind of truth-telling, something the Times knows very well.
The Bush/Cheney criticism of the Democrats merited front page right column treatment however.
So it goes with “all the news that fits, we print”
Stan, I heard a Vietnam Veteran on Air America call in and say that it was not uncommon in the war zone, for troops to be ordered to kill their own, when they knew too much. What do you know about that?
Of course, Tillman, being such a plus for the face of the war, as in “virtuous”, him speaking out against the Iraq invasion, he was a detriment to the neo-cons efforts to paint the war as such a grand and honorable adventure. Kind of makes you wonder, but of course, although you couldn’t say for sure, but I would not put anything past the neo-con cabal. After all, Bush wanted to bomb AlJazeera. That is a well known fact now. Killing for image/political agenda.
I think calling the neo-cons scoundrels is unnecessary, since with all they do, it is more than evident. There are those of us with a brains, which haven’t been offered up already in a ceremonial sacrifice to the war profiteering vampire R party.
STAN: I was in an infantry unit in Vietnam, in the field the entire time, with people who had no hesitation about pulling trigggers. I can’t think of a single circumstance where any officer would have “ordered” any enlisted man to kill another and not himself (the officer) been moved up an unofficial target list. In short, the “vet” who called AA is, imo, as full of shit as a Xmas turkey. Now, murders of soldiers by other soldiers over other kinds of (non-political) greivances was certainly an occasional reality. As for Pat Tillman, he was liked and respected by his peers, his NCOs and his officers. He was killed during a violation of the ROE, accidentally… because they did not comprehend — in their aggression — who they were engaging.

Fellow Veteran’s and family of Vet’s. We ALL need to send e-mails, mail, faxes and make phone calls to CONGRESS, FBI, SECRET SERVICE, MILITARY POLICE and Military Commanders where Rangers are Trained. The purpose will be go get EVERYONE calling for a full Murder Investigation as it would appear Ranger Pat Tillman was shot close range BY ONE OF HIS OWN TROOPS while lying down looking UP at his killer or killers who fired THREE rounds close grouped into his forehead.
Mr. Stan Goff has provided writings for ALL TO READ but we must do more to support him in his efforts to get this MURDER investigated and those who violated the UCMJ and Title 18 U.S. Code PUT AWAY to protect ALL MILITARY!

STAN GOFF REPLIES: Mr. Whitley is carpet-bombing my email and that of a lot of others, including Congress, with this breathless paranoid rant. I am using this opportunity to publicly dissociate myself — who he oddly cites — from anything this guy says, or anyone else who is making this totally unsupported and unsupportable claim. What I have published on this case has been emphatic from the beginning. Pat Tillman was not assassinated.
There is nothing more agitated than a conspiracy-loon, except possibly a cat in a room full of flies.
I realize this tread is now somewhat dated, but I just had the opportunity to watch the Pat Tillman Story in which you had a substantial role. I just wanted to say I found your comments articulate, insightful and compelling. After reading the book and then watching this movie it stupefies me how this web of lies can be weaved and those that are complicit can be held unaccountable.
I appreciate your perspective and thought provoking comments.
I have watched the Tillman Story five times and each time I am more ashamed of our goverment and military leaders. I feel for the Tillman’s loss of a son and tragic hero.
I recently read a web story “The Cancer Within” about the aggressively proselytizing within the military by high ranking military who see themselves as christian warriors in the fight to defeat the muslim hoards.
Mr. Goff, is there any creedence to a conspiracy theory that Pat was murdered due to his non-religious or critical beliefs by the hands of those more willing to drink the military command’s kool-aid? And that any investigation under that administration would never serve up a decorated high ranking christian officer for the wrongful death of a professed non-believer?
Wow! I don’t think some of these people even know what “Feral Scholar” means. Sad Business with Tillman. I am intrigued by your blog. But I have to admit; it’s scary stuff. Part of me wants to take the blue pill and pretend I never came across this blog and then the other part screams take the red pill and see just how crazy this world really is!
Kevin:
God bless the Tillmans. I am going to wear his Cardinal NFL jersey tomorrow.

No credence. It was a military screw-up.
