We have become such a scary death-cult culture. I was recently scrolling through the cable channels hoping for enlightenment, when I saw Glen Beck on Headline News with the headline;
"Kill the Radical Islamists!" Do these butt for brains folks not get that killing creates more furious people seeking revenge, just like all of our Mel Gibson, Arnold Swartzenegger, Denzel Washington Heroes? I suppose they never heard of the many headed Hydra of ancient Greek lore.

to quote Ghandi, "an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind."

sigh.

@sam, Stan grabbed an obsolete copy of the post, because we were working at the same time and stepping on each other (ah, the joys of virtual collaboration). I'll repackage my long post as a front page article later tonight.

Is there a way DeAnander's post could be made its own thread? While Stan's movie review post is interesting in its own right, I haven't seen or read most of the movies and materials he's sourcing and I would like to respond to DeAnander's comment without straying too far from the original post.

If you'd rather not that's fine of course, but I thought there would be no harm in asking.

STAN: Done!

I believe Stan posted this in headbanging frustration at the liberal idiocy of this recent "fair and balanced" discussion of porn at Alternet. The two "debating opponents" -- neither of whom, of course, goes anywhere near feminism or anticapitalism -- wander delicately around the question of <ii>why so many men enjoy looking at pictures of women being (ab)used, humiliated and hurt. In the process they make some really strange statements that reek of cognitive dissonance...

[NOTE this comment has now been mogrified into a frontpage article "Clueless vs Clueless" -- with its own thread]
