Maintenance Downtime: Monday night

The virtual host where Feral Scholar lives will be taken down tonight (Pacific Time) for some overdue maintenance. Do not be alarmed if you are unable to see Feral Scholar for an hour or two, during the late-shift tonight (Monday Jan 11 PST, may be wee-hours Tues for more Easterly folks). There should be no change in content, look, or feel after reboot.

    SSG Goff,

    What happend to you? They have a name for it called the stockholm syndroyme. I don’t ever remember you talking the way you do today. I really don’t think it’s you. Are you pussy whipped? Is it the hair job they did on you? I was statiioned with you however my tour of duty took me to central and south america. I would never lose sight how great this country and its people are. You are lucky you had the priviledge to serve but I think your time might be up.

    OK, I don’t plan to stay up all night on this so I’m taking the server down in about 10 minutes (9:30p local time). You have been warned :-) back up as soon as I can manage it. Hopefully no one will even notice.

  3. DeAnander:

    We’re back up, and as I had hoped, no visible effects of the maintenance activity. Happy posting :-)

    @Ranger
    I speak for myself. If you stay too long here, it might happen to you too. All of a sudden, without realizing it, you read something written by a woman, and it makes sense. You continue to read it, nodding in agreement, and bookmark it. You share it, and suddenly, you realise - you have taken knowledge, advice or what-not, from a woman. Will you then try to reassert your manhood, and bs away from that you agreed with a woman, or will you stand up, acknowledge it, and show some spine? It is free to beat up women in this case, if you are looking for the easy way out.

    When you served, I’m sure you fired into distant (from you) urban targets, and probably you have thrown a grenade or two. I’d like you to know that some children most likely experienced that. Some such children suffer a persistent Stockholm syndrome (i.e. with you - as a nation and as an individual - as the controller), but some do not. In that regard, having received multiple death threats, a few of which have resulted in serious violence, one grows used to it - always an unpleasant experience, but usually the threat is a reaction to emotional trauma - this might help you - it helped me. Your notion of submission to the dictates of women in this regard is nothing new - I heard it the first time as a child - yet those same men (often veterans, albeit not from USA) who made such remarks would waste my time with their mechanical incompetence AND refuse to let competent women help out (I occasionally fix cars and farm machinery) - I also find that women tend to deal better with being on the receiving end of death threats than men do. Think back to when you were four years old, if you have any recollections - how do you really think you would have reacted to gunfire, grenades and corpses? How would you have reacted at age 16 to death threats from veterans ten years older than you?
