Curt:
Say who is the turd that reported that 18% of food related greenhouse gases are produced as the result of dairy production. I want him to report a lower figure or be shot.

It was stated that it would take 124 acres to grow the biomass to produce one gigawatt of electricity. I suspect that they did not use hemp as their biomass source.
19 January 2011, 4:36 pmI WONDER how mcuh of a difference that would make?
Curt:
6% of US Greenhouse gas emmissions were contributed by agricultural activities in one recent year. Ok we are in a crisis situation. Improvments need to be made everywere. Obviously agriculture is not the place to start.
20 January 2011, 12:33 pmFurthermore although cows and pigs contribute a lot of methane to the atmosphere if we go back to 1900, or in the case of bison back to 1800, were there not a zillion buffallo roaming the plains. And what about Gazelles?
And in Africa how many Elephants roamed the wilderness until the last half of the 20th century, and zebras and wildebeasts and gazelles?
Furthermore what about all of our dogs as pets?
Are they really worth it? If they earn their keep as a shepard certainly. But if they just eat sleep, and go for walks and do what they do when they go for walks I think that we need to try to go with out them.
Our shoes will thank us for it.

years ago I read an accout of a us city that recycled the dump-after contouring the piles,it eas covered in plastic tarps that lead the dump gas too collection pipes. These were covered in soil, and a golf course put over it.The resulting methane was enough too power the whole city-and was expected too do so for 20 years. This city was Austin TX-and last I checked they were still burning the dump methane,in their furnaces and ranges. The report was from the late 1980′s.

I am going to make a suggestion that might seem radical to those who have not been reading Feralscholar for a while but is really only applying the same sort of logic that I used in issuing my Fatwa against SUVs.
26 February 2011, 3:29 pmMy suggestion is that it be forbidden to build a family house of over 2500 square feet. It does not matter if a family can afford a house larger than 2500 sqaure feet. They should not be allowed to buy one. 2500 square feet is big enough for any reasonable purposes. Of course if a family has 10 kids they should be allowed to buy or add on to a house to make it larger than 2500 square feet if they can afford it. There always have to be exceptions to the rules but one can not allow the exceptions to become the policy. Most people with 10 kids would not be able to afford a large house anyways.
This policy is neccessary because once weathy people are not longer allowed to accumulate the means of production they will channel thier wealth in to real estate. That will have negative externalities that should not be allowed.
The American people have to face the fact that this planet is in a crisis situation. If they can not accept that they may have to be forced in to it. I would do my part if it is neccessary. No kidding!
Sincerely,
Classic Curt
Curt:
An opptomist might say. But where will people wealth come from if they do not have to ability to own the means of production.
26 February 2011, 3:50 pmWell I am assuming that people will still get salaries.
I am also assuming that not all salaries will be equal.
It does not matter if Garbage collectors get the most money as some have proposed becasue they have a job that is not desirable or if airline pilots get the highest salaries becasue of the great responsibilty that comes with thier job. It is inevitable that many households will have two high earners and one or no children. It will not take very long for such families to develope a large economic competitive advantage. The children of such unions will often even be able to build on that advantage as thier parents will be able to send them to tutors when they have difficulty in school and afford to give them private lessons in other subjects that children of poorer families have no chance of receiving.
But when economic compition is kept in check by limits on what a person or family can achieve the consequences of falling behind do not become so dire. Furthermore with the world’s climate spinning out of control someone has to put a stop to a few percent of the worlds population destroying the planet for everyone.
I remember that some time back I wrote about houseing but as I recall I think that I proposed a 2 house limit on the the number of houses that a family could own. A primary house and a vacation house. I seem to recall bring up the subject of sqaure feet but I do not recall that I explicitly called for a limit on housing size.
Of course I expect my fatwas to be taken seriously, even by Ayatollah Khameni. I can get really really angry if I think that I am being ignored.
